Kinoma 3 EX Movie Trailers for Palm OS 5 Devices
View List of Kinoma 3 EX Movie Trailers
Kinoma 3 was released last year. Kinoma 3 does a much better job with compressing the file size while maintaining quality of the movie trailers. File sizes of the new version are over 50% smaller than previous versions. Thus, I have converted the movie trailers for use with Kinoma 3. In addition, it uses a video format (MPEG-4) that can be played back on the desktop using Apple QuickTime. Unfortunately, there are three things I need to mention:
- If you want to take advantage of the advanced new features (denoted 'EX' by Kinoma), there is a cost associated with the Kinoma 3 player. If you just want to use the basic features of the new player, it is still free, and it is downward compatible with Kinoma 2 content.
- The files I have converted will only work on a Palm OS 5 device with the Kinoma 3 EX player. Even though the player will support older versions, I have only made the version 3 EX files available due to file storage limitations.
- The new Kinoma 3 EX files will have to be loaded onto an external memory card in order to play them back on your device.
There is a comparison chart of the different players at Kinoma (click here for chart). Kinoma Player 3 EX is the only player capable of playing the files I have on this site. When I converted these movie trailers before the release, I was not aware the trial version would not playback the files I created (i.e. MP4 files). I may go back and reconvert them to a format (H.263) that can at least be played back on the trial version. I will let you know if and when I do so.
Currently, I have over 140 movie trailers for the Kinoma 3 Player for the Palm OS 5 platform. Most trailers have been converted for 480 x 320, 320 x 320, and 160 x 160 Palm OS 5 devices. I will be watching this somewhat closely since I do not want to use up all my bandwidth on movie trailers. However, they are for you to download, so enjoy. I will be adding more as time allows. Suggestions are welcome.
There are two versions of the movie trailers available, (1) a low resolution and (2) a high resolution. Which version you choose will depend on your processor speed. Both versions of the trailer have to be played back using the purchased EX player.
- The low resolution version has been tested on the palmOne Tungsten E, palmOne Tungsten T, palmOne Tungsten T3, and palmOne Tungsten T5. It should work on almost all Palm OS 5 devices, though.
- The high resolution version has been tested on the palmOne Tungsten T3 and palmOne Tungsten T5. I am really not sure if they will work on anything else.
